Deer season is coming soon. I'm sure you've got your favorite hunting rifle, but hopefully you don't have your last. Are you looking for your next rifle?
I'm sure you've got your favorite hunting rifle, but - if you're like me - you definitely don't have your last. Are you looking for your next rifle? Well, if you haven't taken a look at the Ruger American Predator...you need to!
That's exactly what we thought when we came across one at our local Academy Sports and Outdoors. We were able to pick it up in a .308 caliber with the shorter, 18" barrel, which we were excited about since we were eventually planning to run a suppressor on it.
If you've watched our channel recently, you know that we really enjoy a threaded barrel, and this one comes standard with 5/8 x 24 threads. We have tried all different combinations on this gun, and we've liked all of them! I've shot it with just the thread protector, muzzle brakes, a Witt Machine SME, an Indian Creek BFD, AND with a suppressor.
We topped it with a Sightmark Wraith HD 4-32x50 digital night vision scope with plans for some after dark hog hunting! We sighted it in at 100 yards with the one shot zero of the Sightmark Wraith and off to the woods we went.
After several great evenings on the stand, we weren't able to take a hog with the Ruger American Predator, but of course that's no fault of the gun! Since we didn't get to take a shot at a hog with it, we took to the range and shot it a lot more.
But after all that shooting, we figured we could give it a thorough review.
She's not quite as excited about this rifle as I am. It just doesn't fit her as well as she'd like with the current stock.
But if it was me doing this review...it would have definitely gotten a higher score!!
